The Skyline Room at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, Australia, has recently undergone a stunning renovation, transforming it into one of the city’s most exclusive event venues. This luxurious space features room-height windows that offer breathtaking views of the city skyline, perfectly framed by a bespoke metal ceiling design that enhances the venue’s opulent atmosphere.

durlum’s custom anodised canoe rafts 300LM were integral to the redesign, bringing to life the modern and unique vision of Grimshaw Architects. The ceiling features 3mm thick perforated aluminum panels, anodised in Champagne Gold, and shaped into U-shaped rafts. These free-floating rafts seamlessly blend with the room’s décor, creating a sophisticated aesthetic that transports guests into a dining oasis, far removed from the bustling stadium environment.

Attention to detail was paramount in this project. durlum and Network Architectural ensured that the anodising process was meticulously consistent to maintain uniform colour across the panels. Additionally, the S-shaped metal ceiling, spanning 10 meters, elegantly clads the varying heights within the space, adding to the room’s grandeur. Despite challenges in maintaining the delicate U-shape and transporting the thin metal panels without damage, the installation was executed flawlessly.
