Barangaroo International Towers

Barangaroo International Towers

Conceived as three sibling buildings, harmonious but with distinct details providing individual character, the International Towers in Barangaroo are carefully positioned on a radial geometry to maximise sunlight and views. The facades are functional as well as elegant, utilising a combination of horizontal and vertical shading to protect from solar load, reducing the energy needed for cooling, whilst also providing a unique colour, scale, filigree and grain to the individual towers. The towers were designed with very tight environmental targets and have received the prestigious 6 star Green Star rating.

Completed in 2016, the rigorous process of material selections commenced in 2013 with multiple prototypes being built out at Jordan Springs in Sydney’s west. Mitsubishi ALPOLIC™/fr was chosen due to Mitsubishi’s ability to offer flexibility in sheet sizes and thickness to provide the structural rigidity required on such a prestigious landmark project. Due to the product’s unique coating technology, it was also possible to alter the gloss level of ALPOLIC™’s Sparkling White to suit the client’s requirements.

Many factors were taken into account during the prototype and material selection stage, including :

  • 20-year manufacturer’s warranty backed by the globally respected Mitsubishi
  • Guaranteed colour uniformity
  • Superior flatness
  • Recyclability and environmental benefits
  • Proven fire safety
